Bird Dog Arms builds the BD-15 in Houston. This is the new semi-automatic 5.56 NATO rifle with a 16-inch free-float barrel, an adjustable stock, a low-profile gas block and a birdcage flash hider. The listing uses a stock photo.

A Houston-made rifle has an obvious appeal on a Texas gun rack, and the configuration is the general-purpose one: a free-floated barrel for consistent accuracy, a stock that adjusts to the shooter, and a gas block low enough to stay out of the way of a sight line. As a centerfire 5.56 it clears the state rule against rimfire for deer, though the county page in the Outdoor Annual settles what the bag limit and antler rules are where you hunt. General season in the North Zone, Bexar County included, opens November 7, 2026 and runs to January 3, 2027; the South Zone stays open to January 17.
