This Remington 798 is a used bolt-action hunting rifle in 7mm Remington Magnum, a modern-production gun built in Serbia by Zastava for Remington. The action follows the Mauser pattern, with a side safety and hinged bottom metal under the magazine. The 24-inch round barrel sits in a synthetic stock, and the supplier grades the whole rifle as excellent. Serial number ZA700701583.

For Texas deer this is a long-reach centerfire setup. The general white-tailed season opens November 7, 2026 and runs to January 3, 2027 in the North Zone, which covers Bexar County and most of the Hill Country, and to January 17, 2027 in the South Zone below U.S. Highway 90. A 7mm magnum gives plenty of margin for long shots across open Hill Country pasture, and the synthetic stock does not mind rough handling in a blind. Read your county page in the Outdoor Annual before the season, since bag limits and antler rules change at the county line.
