The Sako 90 Hunter in .243 Winchester is a new bolt-action rifle with a 20.1-inch threaded barrel, a walnut stock and a blued finish. The supplier lists it under its Sako 90 Standard Hunter name and notes that the photo is a stock image rather than the exact rifle.

A .243 bolt gun is a sensible white-tailed deer rifle for the Hill Country, where shots are moderate and a quick follow-up matters. The 2026-27 general season runs November 7, 2026 to January 3, 2027 in the North Zone, which takes in Bexar County, and to January 17, 2027 in the South Zone, with late seasons after that. The threaded muzzle takes a brake if you want one, and walnut and blue steel make it a rifle you keep for years. The cartridge is centerfire, so the state rule barring rimfire for deer does not touch it. Check the county page in the Outdoor Annual for antler rules before you head out.
