The Weatherby Vanguard Synthetic Compact in .243 Winchester is a bolt-action hunting rifle built short, with a 20-inch threaded barrel and a black synthetic stock under matte blued metal. It has a three-position safety and an adjustable two-stage match trigger. The listing marks it Used while the supplier text calls it new with a stock photo, so confirm the actual grade before purchase.

A compact .243 is a classic first deer rifle for a young hunter in Texas, and the general season gives plenty of room to use it: November 7, 2026 to January 3, 2027 in the North Zone, which covers Bexar County and most of the Hill Country, then the special late season January 4 to 17. Centerfire .243 clears the state rule barring rimfire for deer. The three-position safety and adjustable trigger suit a shooter still learning the rifle, and the synthetic stock takes knocks without complaint. Read the county page in the Outdoor Annual for bag limits and antler rules.
