Springfield's Trophy Match is a stainless steel 1911-style pistol in .45 with a 5-inch barrel and checkered wood grips, here in a modern-production used example that comes with its case. The metal shows wear, and the supplier puts the overall condition at very good. Serial number NM150074.

The Trophy Match name and the full-size 5-inch barrel point this pistol at the range and at competition, and it works just as well as a home-defense .45 for a Texas household. Buying a handgun in the state means photo identification, ATF Form 4473 and the federal NICS check at the dealer, with a current Texas License to Carry accepted in place of the check. Texas adds no permit, no registration and no waiting period, and the federal floor for a handgun is 21. The case keeps it protected between matches, and the checkered wood gives a firm grip.
